The rooms are generously proportioned with an average size of 20.7 square metres and are located off wide central corridors in each wing of the facility. Each room is designed for single occupancy with space for sleeping, sitting and dining and has a private ensuite bath-room.
Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furnishings to make their room a familiar “home away from home”.
A modern electronically adjustable single bed and bedside table is provided for the sleeping area. There is a built-in floor to ceiling double door wardrobe with internal drawers, shelving and hanging space for clothes and ample storage for other effects.
In the sitting area there is a flexible space for a small sofa and one or two lounge chairs, a coffee table, bookshelf and TV, and the dining area is designed to accommodate a one metre square table so that residents can entertain friends and family in the room. There is a small kitchenette with a sink, storage units including a lockable cupboard, multiple power points and space for a small fridge and microwave.
Rooms are carpeted and have lined curtains and a picture window which provides a view of the landscaped gardens. Residents are encouraged to provide input into the garden area immediately outside their window.
In each room there is individually controlled heating, ample lighting and a ceiling fan. TV aerial points are supplied as well as free Wi-Fi access and a telephone extension for which there is a small additional monthly charge for those who wish to make use of this service. Residents can make their own arrangements to access pay TV.
The floor is covered with cushion backed vinyl. A toilet, walk-in shower, hand basin, mirror and cupboards and shelves are provided. There is ample room for residents to be assisted with showering by a carer if this is required. Numerous towel rails and hooks are supplied as well as hand rails for safety.
The main corridors throughout the building have an abundance of natural light and feature recessed areas, furnished with console tables and occasional seating and (like the lounge and dining areas) adorned with floral arrangements, paintings and objets d’art.
The central focus is a large lounge room area with high ceilings which provide a light and airy environment, with lounge chairs and a large TV and a great audio system. It is a fabulous room for relaxing and taking in the views to the landscaped gardens and central courtyard. There are corner tables with comfortable seating and occasional chairs, a feature fire place and a baby grand piano for the use of families and residents with musical inclinations as well as by visiting musicians. When the 2017 building works have been completed, this lounge will flow into the new café area to complete your 5-star experience.
There are many smaller areas to sit and chat, and a reading nook provides a selection reading material.
Main Dining Area
The main dining area is centrally located and, like the lounge areas, has natural lighting and views to the garden and courtyard. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available 24 hours a day and home baked cakes are provided with morning and afternoon tea.
